Nov. 10, 2014 Richmond, Va. - Villanova University senior safety Joe Sarnese has been named the CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week. Sarnese earns the honor for his play in last Saturday's 42-14 win over the Towson Tigers.
In the victory, Sarnese tallied a game-high 11 tackles to go with one interception and one pass break-up. The interception was returned 48 yards for a touchdown that gave the Wildcats a 35-14 lead early in the fourth quarter.
Sarnese has started all 10 games this year and has recorded 60 tackles, three interceptions and two tackles for loss. He now has nine career interceptions to his credit.
Villanova returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 15, when the Wildcats host Albany on Senior Night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
