VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova women's swimming and diving team (4-3, 2-0 BIG EAST) earned BIG EAST wins against Georgetown, 233-114, and Seton Hall, 256-85, but fell to Rutgers, 189.5-154.5, at the conclusion of the two-day, quad meet in Piscataway, N.J.

The women earned three first-place victories, five second-place, two third-place and two-four place finishes across Saturday's eight events. In total, Villanova had seven first-place wins, 10 second-place and five third-place marks in 24 events over the two days.

The Wildcat women started Saturday off with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay where freshman Gabby Daigneault (Montreal, Quebec/William H. Hall), freshman Heather Farley (Mendota Heights, Minn./Convent of the Visitation), junior Fiona Hardie (Hampshire, England/Bournemouth School) and junior Kaisla Kollanus (Hyvinkaa, Finland/Makelanrinteen Iukio) came in at 1:47.32. Hardie, senior Katrin Heider (Bergisch Gladbach, Germany/Herkenrath), sophomore Jessica Randolph (Davie, Fla./American Heritage) and senior Sara Jurek (Gilbert, Ariz./Chandler) earned first place in the final race of the two-day meet in the 400 free relay at 3:28.98.

Jurek also earned first in the 100 freestyle (52.46) while sophomore Emily Mayo (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe) and Villanova dominated the 500 freestyle where Mayo touched the wall first at 4:55.76. Freshman Caitlin Daday (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) came in second (4:56.61) while sophomore Erin Merkle (York, Pa./York Suburban) followed behind in fourth at 5:04.05

Kollanus finished second in the 100 freestyle, coming in at 52.64. Hardie earned one of five Villanova second-place marks in the 100 butterfly (57.44). Daigneault came in second place during the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:03.17.

Daingneault also finished third in the 400 IM when she touched the wall after 4:29.34. Daday, who finished second in the 500 free, came in third during the 200 backstroke at 2:04.54.

The women are away from competition next weekend and return to competition from Thurs., Nov. 20 through Sat., Nov. 22 at the Hokie Fall Invitational in Christiansburg, Va.
