Winter National Championships: Live Results
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Villanova women's swimming team concluded its races on Saturday night at the 2014 AT&T Winter National Championships, hosted by USA Swimming at the Greensboro Aquatic Complex in North Carolina. The Wildcats swam in the 100 free, 200 back and 200 fly preliminary heats in the morning and the 1650 free and 400 free relay finals in the evening to conclude the four-day championships.
In the 1650 free final, sophomore Emily Mayo swam a 16:28.53 for a 17th place finish, roughly 1:15 minutes behind the winner. Freshman Caitlin Daday followed shortly after in 24th place with a time of 16:37.84.
In the 400 free relay finals, senior Sara Jurek, junior Fiona Hardie, junior Kaisla Kollanus and senior Katrin Heider finished 13th with a time of 3:25.44. The University of Michigan quartet won the race at 3:17.13.
In the morning prelim events, freshman Gabby Daigneault swam a 2:02.19 in the 200 back while Daday came in at 2:03.62.
In the 100 free prelims, Kollanus touched the wall at 51.61, Heider at 51.86 and Jurek at 52.31.
Hardie barley missed out on a 200 fly finals appearance after she swam at 2:00.85 in the prelims, missing the C Finals cut by 0.35 seconds.
The event concludes the Wildcats 2014 season. The `Cats will now look towards head-to-head competition starting in January 2015.
