NEW YORK - Twelve women and six men from the Villanova swimming & diving teams were named to the All-BIG EAST squad thanks to their performances in the conference championships over the past two weeks, the BIG EAST announced Thursday afternoon.
The Wildcat women had the most honorees of any team. Megan Conrad, Michelle Hall, Fiona Hardie, Kristin Haufler, Katrin Heider, Sara Jurek, Kaisla Kollanus, Colleen Lord, Emily Mayo, Erin Merkle, Jessica Randolph and Mary Snyder earned spots on the All-BIG EAST team. Hardie, Haufler, Heider, Jurek, Kollanus, Lord, Mayo, Merkle, Randolph and Snyder received honors for multiple events.
Kollanus and Jurek each earned honors for seven events, the most of any women's swimmer.
Hardie was also named the Co-Women's Most Outstanding Swimmer at the conference championship.
Forty men and 39 women complete the list. A total of 26 men and 25 women earned All-BIG EAST honors for their finishes in multiple events.
Greg Cino, Jason Moyer, Mike Rodriguez, Tony Sipala, Ben Smith and Pat Sullivan were all named to the men's All-BIG EAST squad, with Moyer and Smith honored for multiple events.
Smith broke a 25-year-old Villanova record in the 100 butterfly and was the first men's swimmer to earn a BIG EAST individual title since 1996.
The All-BIG EAST team is comprised of swimmers and divers who finished in the top three in any individual or relay event at the championships.
