NEWARK, Del. - Junior Jamie Klein (Hawthorne, N.J.) recorded a first place finish in the javelin and Villanova had four different athletes record personal best marks during the Delaware Open at the Delaware Mini-Stadium on Saturday afternoon. In the local meet the Wildcats had athletes competing in eight different events, including four running events and four field events.

Klein came in first out of 13 competitors in the javelin with a distance of 41.07 meters. She was followed by freshman Caroline Hamilton (Nottingham, Pa.), who set a new personal best for the second straight week and was the runner-up to Klein with a mark of 39.44 meters. Freshman Hannah Lee (Scituate, R.I.) and junior Alexi Stershic (Yardley, Pa.) placed fifth (35.64m) and eighth (31.60m), respectively.

Sophomore Alita Ostapkovich (Bensalem, Pa.) registered a personal best throw of 44.41 meters in the hammer and came in fourth. She also competed in the discus (35.80m) and the shot put (10.71m), in which she placed third and 10th, respectively. Freshmen Kristen Erickson (Princeton, Mass.) and Claudia Tishler (Medfield, Mass.) came in eighth in the shot put (11.00m) and ninth in the hammer (35.83m) to round out the Villanova results in the throwing events.

In the running events freshman Veronica Scott (Plymouth, N.H.) was the runner-up in the 400 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 1:04.26, while senior Mary Bohi (Shamong, N.J.) finished fifth in 1:06.24.

Freshman Emma Biggs (Amherst, Mass.) posted a personal best time of 12.59 in the 100 meters to come in fifth overall. She was also seventh in the 200 meters (26.55), while fellow first-year sprinter Arielle Massillon (Charlotte, N.C.) came in 15th in both the 100 meters (13.04) and the 200 meters (27.33). Freshman Ekiah Lewis (San Bernardino, Calif.) finished 14th in the 100 meters (12.91).
