PRINCETON, N.J. - Sophomore jumper Anne Yahiro (Downers Grove, Ill.) came in first in the triple jump at the Princeton Elite Meet as Villanova had athletes competing in three different field events at Weaver Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Yahiro registered a mark of 11.92 meters in the triple jump and had the top distance out of five competitors.
In the pole vault junior Alexandra Wasik (Medina, Ohio) led a group of six Wildcats who were in action. She came in second overall and cleared the bar at a height of 3.95 meters. Junior Kathleen McPhillips (Carlisle, Pa.) and sophomore Virginia LaMacchia (Bloomsburg, Pa.) each recorded marks of 3.70 meters and they placed fourth and seventh, respectively. Freshman Alexandra Elder (Moorestown, N.J.) matched a personal best height at 3.55 meters and came in eighth, while sophomore Abigail Nolte (Branchburg, N.J.) was ninth (3.40m) and graduate student Bianca Reo (Parsippany, N.J.) finished 11th (3.40m).
Senior Victoria Profit (Nissequogue, N.Y.) came in fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.60 meters to round out the Villanova entries in the meet.
Next weekend the Wildcats will host the BIG EAST Championships at Villanova Stadium on Saturday and Sunday (May 10-11).
