Wildcat Swimming and Diving Releases 2014-15 Schedule

VILLANOVA, Pa. -
Head coach Rick Simpson and the Villanova men's and women's swimming and diving teams released its schedules on Mon., Sept. 15 for the upcoming 2014-15 season. Villanova is coming off one of its best season where it saw the women win the 2014 BIG EAST Championship as well as 18 men and women named to the 2014 All-BIG EAST Team. The 2014-15 slate features seven home meets (four dual, two additional men's and one additional women's). The Wildcats will face schools from the Big Ten, ACC, SEC and Big 12, also including rivals from the BIG EAST.

"We are excited to be faced with a very challenging schedule this year," said Simpson. "We pride ourselves on facing some of the best programs and conferences in the nation. Our student-athletes understand the concept that in order to be the best we can be, we must face national caliber competition."

The men and women both open the season up at home from Thurs., Oct. 23 to Sat., Oct. 25 with the Homecoming Triple Header, a new event hosted by the Wildcats. Villanova will welcome three schools to compete against individually for three-straight days. VU will host La Salle on Thursday at 4 p.m., Connecticut on Friday at 5 p.m. and West Virginia on Saturday with a noon start. "We are very excited to present something new to our alumni as they return to campus," said Simpson. "Our student-athletes will be challenged by three separate dual meet opponents in three days."

Both squads will then travel out to State College, Pa. to square off against Penn State on Halloween, Fri., Oct. 31 at 3 p.m.

Villanova travels out to Piscataway, N.J. for the Rutgers-hosted BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge on Fri., Nov. 7 and Sat., Nov. 8. The Challenge will see Villanova compete against Georgetown and Seton Hall of the BIG EAST and first-year Big Ten school, Rutgers.

Nova swimming and diving will close out the month of November at the Virginia Tech-hosted H20kie Fall Invitational at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Christiansburg, Va.

In the only event in December, the Wildcat men and women will travel to Greensboro, N.C. for the USA Swimming Short Course Nationals from Thurs., Dec. 4 to Sat., Dec. 6.

The start of 2015 brings more head-to-head competitions for VU.

Both Villanova programs will host North Carolina State in Villanova, Pa. on Sat., Jan. 10.

The men will then host the United States Merchant Marine Academy the following day, Sun., Jan. 11 followed by a road meet in Providence, R.I. against Providence in a BIG EAST event.

The women then invite Richmond out to the Main Line on Fri., Jan. 30.

The Villanova men's and women's teams close out regular-season competition by hosting the University of Pittsburgh on Sat., Feb. 7. The event doubles as senior day for the Wildcats.

This year's BIG EAST Championship will occur from Wed., Feb. 18 to Sat., Feb. 21 in Ithaca, N.Y., hosted by the conference.

The Women's NCAA Championships are in Greensboro, N.C. from March 19 to 21. The men's NCAA Championships transpire the following week at the University of Iowa from March 26 to March 28.
