PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Villanova men's swimming team (2-7, 1-2 BIG EAST) defeated the Providence Friars, 117-83, on Saturday afternoon in Providence, R.I. for the conference dual victory.
The Wildcat men earned seven individual first-place finishes and a win in the 200 medley relay.
Mike Rodriguez, Tyler Nussbaum, Jake Hoin and Chris Tamanini swam a collective 1:47.50 in medley relay for the victory.
Villanova also swept the 50 and 400 freestyle events.
In the 50 free, Tamanini earned the win with a time of 24.27; Joe Moleski swam a 24.69 for second while Ryan Murtha finished third at 25.11.
Greg Cino won the 400 free at 4:17.13. Harrison Rodts and Pat Sullivan finished second and third with times of 4:20.16 and 4:23.12, respectively.
Rodts also won the 800 freestyle as he touched the wall at 8:57.74.
Jason Moyer earned two individual victories in the 100 (53.53) and 200 (1:57.09) freestyle events.
Nikolai Tchobanov swam a 2:13.61 in the 200 fly for first place.
The men's next and final dual comes at the Villanova Swim Complex on Sat., Feb. 7 against Pittsburgh. Diving starts at 10 a.m. before the swimming portion at noon.
