Women's Swimming Hosts Richmond on Friday at Noon

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova women's swimming team (4-4, 2-0 BIG EAST) will host the Richmond Spiders on Fri., Jan. 30 at the Villanova Swim Complex. The swimming only dual will start at noon ET.

Villanova was last in the pool on Jan. 10 when the women suffered a 173.5-87.5 loss to NC State.

When the Wildcats face the Spiders on Friday, it marks the second-to-last dual for the squad before the BIG EAST Championships in Ithaca, N.Y. Tickets for the Championships, hosted at Ithaca College from Wed., Feb. 18 through Sat., Feb. 21, are now on sale.

The Richmond Spiders are 1-3 over its last four meets since returning from winter break. Richmond lost to Virginia Tech on Jan. 10 (L, 184-104), Fordham on Jan. 17 (L, 159-140) and James Madison on Jan. 24 (L, 176-123). The squad defeated La Salle in the Bronx, N.Y. at a Fordham-hosted event on Jan. 17 (W, 209-90). Villanova also defeated La Salle, 183-113, back in the first event of the year on Oct. 23, 2014 at the Villanova Swim Complex.

The two squads last met on Feb. 1, 2013 in Richmond, Va. where the Wildcats emerged victorious, 162-135.

Villanova and Richmond both won its respective conference crowns in the 2013-14 season with the Wildcats capturing the BIG EAST Championships in Swell, N.J. while the Spiders won its fourth-straight Atlantic 10 Championship in Geneva, Ohio.
