  • Patrick Tiernan repeated as the conference champion in the 5000 meters. This is the fourth time in the last five years that Villanova has produced the indoor 5000 meters champion. Hugo Beamish won back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012. Prior to 2011, the only indoor 5000 meters champion in school history was John Keyworth in 1983.
  • Robert Hurlbut registered a personal best time of 14:30.28 to finish seventh in the 5000 meters. His previous top mark had been 14:32.37 at the Penn State National earlier this season.
  • Villanova has more titles in the distance medley relay than in any other event after winning the relay for the 16th time tonight. This is the third straight year that the Wildcats have been the DMR champion. No other school has won three consecutive titles in the DMR but the Wildcats have done it twice (2002-04, 2013-15).
  • Elbert Maxwell successfully defended his conference title in the long jump with a winning mark of 7.43 meters. It came on his first attempt of the night. Maxwell is the only Villanova athlete to win the BIG EAST long jump indoors. Tone Belt from Louisville was the last repeat champion in the long jump. He won three career titles in the event, including consecutive championships in 2006-07.
  • Maxwell's jump of 7.43 meters is a season best mark and the third longest indoors of his collegiate career. His two longer jumps were both last year: 7.46 meters at the BIG EAST meet and 7.45 meters at the Mason Last Chance Meet.
  • James Deutmeyer will earn All-BIG EAST honors in the pole vault for his runner-up finish. He is the third Villanova athlete to earn all-conference honors in the pole vault indoors. He joins Mike Morris and Chris Dougherty, who each tallied second place finishes in 1981 and 2014, respectively.
