VILLANOVA, Pa. - Wildcat senior freestyle swimmer Jason Moyer (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) has been named the Villanova Student-Athlete of the Month for January, as announced by the Office of Academic Support this week.

The senior from Coopersburg, Pa. currently holds Villanova's top times for the 2014-15 season in the 50 (21.06), 100 (46.64) and 200 (1:41.50) freestyle events.

On the campaign, he has earned two BIG EAST Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week awards coming back on October 28, 2014 and more recently on January 20, 2015.

The Wildcats have one more meet on Sat., Feb. 7 as the squad hosts Pitt at the Villanova Swim Complex before Villanova travels to the BIG EAST Championships in Ithaca, N.Y. in mid-February. Last year at the conference championships, Moyer finished second in the 200 freestyle and fifth in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events.

Moyer is a mechanical engineering major who is carrying a 3.40 GPA. Upon graduation, he will receive commission in the U.S. Navy to start his career as a naval officer.
