Softball will open their fall exhibition schedule with a pair of games against Delaware and Delaware State on Saturday, September 19 at Villanova at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. respectively.

Villanova.com recently caught up with the Wildcat senior to see how her time on the Main Line has been, and to get a glimpse into what her future may hold.

You are entering your senior year at Villanova. How has the experience been thus far? Stephanie Butler: "The past three years have been very fun. Being on the softball team we are one big family. I really enjoy it. Not only has the educational aspect been going really well, but my experience as a student-athlete has been exceptional."

After a successful trip to the BIG EAST playoffs last season, how are you and the team preparing in hopes of return trip this year? "Last year we were very excited to go [to the playoffs]. We know that we can definitely work harder and get even further this year. We are coming together more and more every year as a team. We are giving 110% everyday."

When did you first start playing softball? "I really don't know. Probably since I was able to throw a ball. My parents both played baseball and softball. They did not go anywhere to play in college, but I grew up very active. So since day one pretty much."

Who has had the biggest impact on your softball career? "My Dad [Mark] definitely has. He is always calling me before and after games talking about my swing, and what I can different. He is a big supporter of me."

What is your favorite part about playing the game of softball? "I am a very competitive person. I don't like losing even if it is a little game. We are all competitive together. Not one person wins the game, we all do."

What has been your favorite moment thus far at Villanova? "I would say definitely last year when we won that game against St. John's allowing us to go to the BIG EAST Tournament. It was a do-or-die type of situation, and we pulled through."

What has been the most interesting class you have taken at Villanova? "Well, being a Marketing and MIS [Management Information Systems] major, and Business Analytics minor I had programming last year. You learn HTML's and doing the backside of websites which was very interesting to me. I have a big passion in that."

What are your current plans for after college? "I don't have any definite plans, but I am kind of open to everything. I do love marketing and the creative aspect, but I do love computers and figuring out numbers and patterns."
