Sept. 22, 2015 VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova University head football coach Andy Talley today announced that senior quarterback John Robertson will be out indefinitely after suffering a torn posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) in last Saturday's 28-21 win over Delaware.
Robertson will be replaced in the starting line-up by redshirt freshman Zach Bednarczyk. In the Delaware win, Bednarczyk completed 4-of-6 for 57 yards and one touchdown to go with one carry for 21 yards and a score.
In three games in 2015, Robertson has completed 43-of-74 for 522 yards to go with three touchdowns and one interception. He also tallied 50 carries for 138 yards and three scores.
Robertson won the 2014 Walter Payton Award given to the top player in FCS Football and was named the 2015 CAA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. As a junior last season, he completed 197-of-301 passes (65.4%) with 35 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also had 227 carries for a team-high 1,078 yards and 11 scores.
