Villanova, Pa. - Villanova sophomore swimmer Caitlin Daday (Allentown, Pa. / Allentown Central Catholic) has been named Villanova's December Student-Athlete of the Month earlier this week.

The student-athlete of the month is chosen each month by the university's awards committee that looks at the accomplishments of each athlete in the classroom and in their respective sport.

Daday has excelled both in the pool and in the classroom this year.

In the pool, Daday is a key reason why Villanova is 5-1 on the year. On Dec. 6 at the Princeton Big Al Invitational, Daday took home third place in the 1650 free with a time of 16:27.36. Daday's time in the 1650 free did rank 39th in the country at the time and is an NCAA "B" cut time. Currently, her time ranks 43rd best in the nation.

Daday holds program top times in the 1000 free (10:02.67) and 1650 free (16:27.36) along with the second best time in the 500 free at 4:50.22 this season. Her 4:24.11 time in the 400 IM is also good for second fastest this season.

Out of the pool, Caitlin, has a 3.861 grade point average and is majoring in political science.

The women will return to the pool on Friday, January 29, as they travel to Morgantown, W. Va. to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Iowa State Cyclones.
