Inside The Dugout With Senior Jordan Prutzer

Jordan Prutzer - Senior Pitcher

Hey Nova Nation! It's me Jordan Prutzer. I hope everyone had a great summer and is finally winding down into the fall season. I cannot believe I am a quarter of the way done with my senior year! Time truly goes by too fast!

Right now, most of us have headed home for our fall break. It is such a great time, because I know a lot of us get excited to spend some quality time with our family at home. Having such a busy schedule to balance at Nova, it is always nice to take a break and hang out with the fam!

This fall we had the opportunity to play six games. It was great to see that so many parents were able to come visit and watch the games! They are our number one fans, and we love having them there to support us. We ended our fall season with a record of 5-1! I was so happy with how successful our fall season was! Having lost five seniors and adding seven new players to the team, I thought we blended so well on the field and really worked as one!

I believe we worked so well together, because we have been able to spend time together off the field, and have gotten to know each other on a more personal level. Over Labor Day, Jess and her family were so welcoming as they invited the entire team over for the weekend. It was a great time for the returners and new players to get to hangout outside of softball. Although it was a little windy, we were still able to hang at the beach and spend time on the boardwalk. We also had the chance this fall to visit the Philadelphia Zoo. My family and I adopted a hippo there, and it was the first time I was able to see her. It was so much fun to share this with the team! We girls really enjoy spending time together away from the field, and I believe that is what has made us so successful come game day!

Now that we have completed our fall season, we will begin our offseason training. I am very excited for our future as a team, because I see the passion and hard work in everyone. We are focusing on the process and taking each day at a time in order to become stronger and better players. We have been adding daily goals and challenges into our practices, which help us to concentrate on the little things we need to work on. Also, in order for us to build as a team, our coaches have incorporated new types of workouts for us. We now have started weekly yoga classes, something I definitely need since my level of balance and flexibility is zero! And another great addition is swim workouts for the pitchers! I get tired just after the warm up laps! I give a lot of credit to those who dedicate their lives to swimming - it's challenging! At the same time, it is so much fun, and the pitchers really enjoy it! I think our team is moving in a great direction toward success, and I look forward to the spring season with my girls!

Seeing that the real world is quickly creeping up on me and the rest of the seniors, I am definitely cherishing every moment with this team. They are my family, and have made such a great impact on my life! I cannot wait to share my senior year with all of them, and I cannot wait to have another winning year with them this season!!

Peace, Love, and Go Cats!
