On a beautiful fall day in Chicago the Wildcats couldn't hold off the conference leading DePaul Blue Demons and fell by a final of 3-0.
With the win, DePaul improves to 8-4-2 and 5-0 to remain undefeated in BIG EAST action while the Wildcat fell to 3-10 and 1-3 in league.
DePaul got to a quick start, Abby Reed, who is second in the conference in points scored the Blue Demons first goal. In the 23rd minute Reed was able to head the ball into the left side of the net the assists were credited to Kelli Hubly and Ana Greik.
The score would hold at 1-0 heading into intermission.
The Blue Demons continued to pressure in the second half and took a 2-0 lead in the 69th minute, Taylor Schissler placed her free kick right into the middle of the box and Alexa Ben was able to get a shot into the back of the net. It was just nine minutes later that DePaul registered the final goal of the contest. Schissler was able to set up Franny Cerney for a shot right in the middle of the box that found the back of the net.
Defensively, Villanova's Emily Harris tallied five saves in the loss while Emmalee Meyer finished strong in goal for the final minutes of the game. While on the offensive side Amanda Vocelka, Sam DePinho, and Emily Kuefler all placed a shot on goal.
Villanova will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 12th when they travel to Georgetown. Game time is slated for 2:30 pm. Originally this game was to be played on Sept. 29th but due to weather was rescheduled.
