Nov. 4, 2016 Scores Swimming Results Diving Results
New Brunswick, N.J. - The Villanova swimming and diving teams concluded the first day of the Rutgers Quad Meet. The women's team is ahead of Seton Hall (93-14) and Georgetown (81-29), but trail Rutgers (64-46). The men's team leads Georgetown (69.5-40.5) and is narrowly behind Seton Hall (60-47).
The Wildcats got off to a fast start at the meet in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Villanova's women touched the wall at 1:35.01 to take the top spot. The men's team followed that impressive performance with a first place finish of their own in a time of 1:24.99.
Emily Mayo took second in the 500-yard free with a time of 4:52.25, just .24 seconds behind the first place finisher.
Darby Goodwin, Elise Pidutti, Mackenzie Niness and Gabby Daigneault finished second, third, fourth and fifth place respectively in the 200-yard IM. Alexa Fabbri had a strong showing in the 50-yard free, taking the top spot with a time of 23.66.
Goodwin, Pidutti, Fabbri and Taylor Wilson were also part of the 400-yard medley relay that took second place.
Jake Hoin and Justin Cucchi captured second and third place in the men's 200-yard IM. Hoin and Cucchi, along with Tyler Nussbaum and Stephen Krecsmar, helped the 400-yard medley relay team to a second place finish.
In the men's 50-yard free, Christopher Paynter finished in second place, touching the wall at 21.64.
Two diving events were also contested on Friday. Brighid Dunn turned in a fourth place performance in the women's three meter event with a score of 240.05. Michael Perra placed second in the men's one meter dive, scoring 247.55 points.
The final day of the Rutgers Quad Meet will take place tomorrow Saturday, Nov. 5 at 9:00 a.m. Results will be posted to the website after the event has concluded.
