Madeira Beach, Fla. - After dropping a 6-5 decision in nine innings to Georgia Southern earlier Saturday night, Villanova (0-4, 0-0 BIG EAST) fell to the North Florida Ospreys by an 8-1 margin.
North Florida (1-7) would take a 1-0 lead in the top half of the second inning as Ashley Niesman homered down the left field line.
Villanova would tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom half of the third inning courtesy of Dana Morris' sacrifice fly scoring Lauren Herschberg.
The Ospreys would break the game wide open in the top half of the fourth inning as Lexi Taylor doubled to right center field scoring two. North Florida would take a 6-1 lead into the bottom half of the fourth inning. The Ospreys would tack on two more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to seal the 8-1 victory.
Brette Lawrence (0-1) took the loss for the Wildcats. She pitched 3.2 innings giving up six runs on seven hits while striking out two. Chase Snell went 2-for-3 from the plate.
Villanova returns to action tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. as they square off against the Siena Saints.
