Villanova University head football coach Andy Talley today announced the 2016 Wildcat football schedule. The season will kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 3, at ACC member Pittsburgh. This will be the third all-time meeting between the Wildcats and Panthers and first since the 1998 season.
Following the trip to Pittsburgh, Villanova returns to the Main Line to host Lehigh in the home opener on Sept. 10. The Wildcats will begin CAA play the following week when Towson visits Villanova Stadium for Parents' Weekend.
Villanova will travel to Lafayette on Sept. 24 for its final non conference game of the season. The team will stay on the road the following week for Villanova's first-ever trip to Elon on Oct. 1.
After hosting Rhode Island on Oct. 8, the Wildcats will travel to Richmond for an Oct. 15 date. The Wildcats will play Albany at home on Oct. 22, before the team's bye week which is set for Oct. 29.
The month of November will include two away contests and one home date. Villanova plays at Maine on Nov. 5 and hosts James Madison in the regular season home finale on Nov. 12. The Wildcats will conclude the 2016 regular season at arch rival Delaware on Nov. 19 in the annual Battle of the Blue game.
Game times will be announced in late spring after the CAA TV schedule is finalized.
