Kaisla Kollanus Named February Student-Athlete of the Month

Villanova, Pa. - Villanova senior swimmer Kaisla Kollanus (Hyvinkaa, Finland /Makelanrinteen Iukio) has been named Villanova's February Student-Athlete of the Month.

The student-athlete of the month is chosen each month by the university's awards committee that looks at the accomplishments of each athlete in the classroom and in their respective sport.

Kollanus has excelled both in the pool and in the classroom this year.

Kollanus won three individual gold medals at the 2016 BIG EAST Swimming Championships. Kollanus swept the 50, 100, and 200 free events. She also won gold as a member of the 200, 400, and 800 free relay teams as well as the 400 medley relay.

Kollanus set new program records in the 50 free (twice) and 100 free. The Villanova women won their third consecutive BIG EAST title.

In the classroom, Kaisla has a 3.764 grade point average and is majoring in management information systems.
