NFCA DI All-Region Teams

Villanova, Pa. - Villanova senior Kate Poppe was named to the 2016 NFCA Division I All-Mideast Region third team, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Thursday afternoon.

Poppe had an all-time campaign in her final season as a pitcher for the Wildcats. She posted a career-high in wins going 21-12 with an ERA of 2.79 in 185.1 innings pitched. Her 21 wins and 191 strikeouts were tops in the BIG EAST. She was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year and was named to the All-BIG EAST First-Team.

Poppe recorded two no-hitters this season which places her tied for first all-time in program history with five. Poppe closes her career at Villanova as the all-time leader in strikeouts (977), complete games (69), and career innings pitched at 848.1. Her 65 career wins are tied for third all-time, and her 17 career shutouts are second all-time.

A total of 385 players from 157 different institutions comprise this season's regional teams, including first, second, and third teams for each region.

The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees will now be eligible for selection to the NFCA All-America first, second or third teams. In addition, conference pitchers and players of the year not selected to the regional teams were added for All-America consideration.
