The Villanova women's soccer team defeated the Seton Hall Pirates on Thursday night by a final of 1-0. With the win the Wildcats move to 6-7 overall and 2-2 in BIG EAST play while the Pirates are now 0-8-4 and 0-2-2 in conference play.
"Two wins on the road in a row is massive for a team in the Big East," shared head coach Chris McLain. "Every team in this league can win on any given night. To steal three points while not at home does wonders for the moral of a team that now believes they can win."
It was early in the 13th minute that Amanda Vocelka would head in what would be the game winner for the Wildcats.
Mandi Wilson kicked a free kick into the box that bounced and was went back into the air. Vocelka was able to get a high header to fall over the Pirates keeper and give Villanova a 1-0 lead.
The Wildcats kept the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The second half saw two more shots on goal by the Wildcats one by Daniela Nelson the other by Natalie Fouque. While the Pirates finished with one shot on goal and eight total shots on the night.
Niether team scored during the second half to make the final 1-0.
"Our staff have been very demanding over the last few weeks to correct certain areas of the game that will make us better. Tonight they were rewarded for sticking to the game plan and staying disciplined," continued McLain.
Next the Wildcats will return home Sunday afternoon to host the Georgetown Hoyas. Game time at Higgins is set for 1 p.m. and can be seen on Nova Nation All-Access.
