Head Coach Jay Wright

Opening statement:

"The score is indicative of hard it is to play Lafayette. We tell our players that we can't sit and wait because of hard they run on offense so we went into the game knowing that this was going to be a battle for us on defense. Our guys played well tonight and they are going to be a great team this. We had a good team effort from everyone who played tonight and played with energy."

On the amount of shots Villanova took:

"Early on had we had a lot of three point shots and to a team that can be back breaking. If we missed them we knew we were going to be in trouble, but we kept making them and we get a big lead so the basket looks big. I think early three's like we had makes a difference in how you shoot for the rest of the game."

When asked about Mikal Bridges:

"Mikal has never lacked confidence but he has always played a complimentary role and he's fine with that. I think he's confident that it's his time to be a leader on this team and be an aggressive player."

#25 Forward/Guard Mikal Bridges

On his ability to find open shots:

"My teammates are finding me and being at the right spot on the court. I try to stay low and on the right side so when I'm feeling good I try take that into the game. We look for each other out and score points."

#1 Guard Jalen Brunson

On the team being more aggressive:

"It's both offense and defense. It's part of being a leader on the team you have set the tone both ends of the court."

When asked about giving advice to Gillespie while on the bench:

"I'm pretty engaged the entire time. I know I can help Collin and that's why I try to give him advice behind the arch. When I see him out there I want him to be the best he can be like coach wants us to be."

When asked about being at the point guard position:

"It's fun to be at that position all time whether shots are flying or not. I love playing with these guys and for this program. It's something I wanted to be a part of and something I will cherish."
