Villanova will travel to New York on Friday, Feb. 10, to take on the St. John's Red Storm. Tip-off at Carnesecca Arena is set for 8 p.m. The Wildcats enter play with a 12-11 overall record and a 7-5 Big East mark, while the Red Storm is 16-8 on the season and 8-5 in conference action.
Friday's game between Villanova and the St. John's will be the 62nd all-time meeting between the schools. Villanova leads the all-time series by a 36-25 count. Villanova has won four of the last five and three in a row against the Red Storm.
Villanova and St. John's will be meeting for the second time this season when the two teams face one another on Friday night. The Wildcats tallied a 55-50 home win over St. John's on Jan. 15. In the victory, junior guard Alex Louin had 19 points to go with four rebounds and four assists. Freshman forward Mary Gedaka tallied 16 points and eight rebounds. She was 5-of-7 from the field and 6-of-6 from the foul line. Sophomore guard Adrianna Hahn chipped in with 13 points.
Of all the opponents Villanova has faced over the years, the Wildcats have played St. John's the second most of any opponent at 61 times (Villanova leads 36-25). Providence is the team that the Wildcats have played the most at 71 times.
Junior guard Alex Louin has been outstanding in the rebounding department over the last three games. In the three contests combined, Louin has tallied a total of 25 rebounds for an average of 8.3 during the three-game stretch. Her best effort of the three games came against Creighton when she pulled-down a career-high tying 10 boards. Louin currently ranks second on the team in rebounding at 4.7 per game.
Villanova is led in scoring by Hahn who is averaging 13.7 points per contest. Louin is second in scoring at 12.4 points per contest. Junior center Megan Quinn leads the team in rebounding with a team-best 5.9 rebounds per contest.
