Box Score Villanova, Pa.- The Villanova Wildcats fell to the Butler Bulldogs in the final game of the regular season Thursday afternoon, 2-1.  Villanova finished eighth in the BIG EAST Conference after going 3-6 against conference foes. 

Butler got themselves on the board first in the 20^th minutes on what was an own goal by the Wildcats.  Off a corner kick Annika Schmidt headed the ball up into the air and went off Shaye Seyffart's shoulder and into the back of the net.  Villanova struggled to get going offensively in the first half having only one shot.  

After intermission the Wildcats came out strong and even had a few  scoring chance early.  Butler would notch what would be the game winner in the 56^th minutes when Madison Toth at the top right of the box pass it to Halle Stelbasky.  Stelbaskey who was just under 10 yards out crossed her shot into the opposite corner of the net to push the Bulldogs to a 2-0 lead.

Villanova answered back when junior captain Kristin Barbour sent one flying into the back of the goal from 15 yards out in the 59^th minute.  The Wildcats had another good scoring chance when Conner Huggins sent a long shot in but it hit the crossbar.  In the second half the Wildcats took 13 shots and were awarded four corner kicks.

The Wildcats nine wins this season most since the 2009 season.
