Wildcats concluded fall season at Head of the Schuykill

PHILADELPHIA – The Villanova women's rowing team wrapped up their fall season yesterday at the Head of the Schuykill.

Head coach Carissa Adams on the day, "Our team had a great performance.  I am proud of the women for not allowing the conditions to affect their efforts on the water.  They did a great job executing our plan.  All boats looked composed and technically sound. Our top eights demonstrated strength against our conference rival."

Due to the weather conditions in the area, the morning races were canceled which included the Women's Championship Pair and Women's College Novice Four. The Wildcats had two entries in the novice four.

Despite the weather, it was still a successful day on the water for Villanova. The first race of the day for the Wildcats was the Women's Championship fours. The two Villanova entries finished in 21st and 25th out of the 43 boats.

The second race for Villanova was the College Frosh/Novice Eight. The Wildcats had two entries in this race, finishing 23rd and 24th out of 29 boats.

The third event was the Women's Championship Club eights. Villanova had three entries in this race. The Wildcats finished in 12th, 31st and 32nd out of 50 boats. The lineups for this race are the JV8, 4V8 and 3V8 respectively.

Villanova concluded the day with the Women's Championship Eights. The Wildcats finished in 12th out 20 boats.

Carissa Adams on the fall season, "the progress we made this Fall has been awesome and I am looking forward to two more weeks of training on the water.  The team is motivated to hit winter training hard, so they can hit the water strong in the spring."

"It was a great day, despite the weather for all our fans as well.  Our parents and alumni deserve a shout out for helping us create a festive environment at our team tent.  The sun peaked out of the clouds as our team Chaplain, Fr. Bill Donnelly celebrated Mass for our student-athletes and supporters at the lunch break."

The Wildcats will return to action in the spring at the Rollins Invitational in Lake Maitland, Florida.
