Day Two of Bruno Invite: Women fall to third, men fall to fifth

PROVIDENCE, N.Y. – At the conclusion of day two of the Bruno Invitational, the lady Wildcats fall to third place with 450.5 points, Brown still holds a strong lead with 637 points and Princeton is now in second with 570.5 points. On the men's side Princeton leads with 703 points and Villanova is in fifth with 263 points.  A total of 16 events took place on the day.

Villanova Women
In the second day, the Villanova women earned three first place finishes and six other top four finishes in the "A" Flight.

Kelly Montesi swam to a first-place finish and a fourth-place finish in the 400-IM and 100-fly and was also part of the 800-freestyle relay team that finished in second. In the IM she clocked a time of 4:10.22, in the fly she recorded a 54.94, and in the relay, alongside Alexa Fabbri, Milly Routledge and Nicole Welch they clocked a 7:20.21 finish.

Fabbri swam to the top spot in the 200-freestyle with a time of 1:48.51 and Darby Goodwin earned the third first place finish in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 54.86.
Other top four finishes for the women came in the 200-medley relay, 400-IM, 100-yard breaststroke, and 1-meter dive. Anastasia Kontrimas, Elise Pidutti, Micaela Grassi, and Abbey Berloco came in fourth in the 200-medley relay, Pidutti came in fourth in the 400-IM, Rayann Jaryszak placed third in the 100-breaststroke with a 1:02.98 time and Bridie Dunn placed third in the 1-meter with a score of 259.25.

The women had many other finishes in the "B" and "C" Flights on the day.

Villanova Men
The men did not earn any finishes in the top three spots other than in the 3-meter dive. Michael Perra placed third with a score of 321.10.

The 100-backstroke was the best showing for the men on the day. Justin Cucchi earned a fifth-place finish in the "A" Flight with a time of 49.44 and Andrew Kelley placed sixth with a time of 49.51. Cucchi also placed 11th overall and third in the "B" Flight in the 400-IM clocking in at 3:57.56.

In the 100-breaststroke, Francis Prikasky placed 16th and behind him JJ Strain placed 17th overall and first in the "C" Flight. Prikasky swam to a 58.38 finish and Strain clocked in at 57.61.

The men's 200-medley relay placed seventh overall and in the 800-freestyle relay they placed ninth.

The final day of the Bruno Invitational will be on Sunday, Dec. 2.
