June 20, 2018

Villanova, Pa. -

Villanova University head football coach Mark Ferrante today announced that Villanova and ACC member Wake Forest have signed a contract to play in Winston Salem on Sept. 19, 2020.

This will be the fifth all-time meeting between the Wildcats and Demon Deacons. In the last match-up, Wake Forest traveled to Villanova Stadium where they tallied a 31-11 victory on Sept. 3, 1988. The first meeting in the series came in 1952 when the Wildcats earned a 20-0 shutout win in a game played at Franklin Field.

The Demon Deacons are coached by former Villanova assistant coach Dave Clawson who was the Wildcats Offensive Coordinator from 1996-98.

Villanova has played four other games against teams that are currently in the ACC since restoring football at the FCS level in 1985. In addition to playing Wake Forest in 1988, the Wildcats played Boston College in 2013, Syracuse in 2014 and Pitt in 1998 and 2016.
