Villanova University head football coach
Mark Ferrante today announced that Villanova and Big Ten member Penn State have signed a contract to play a two game football series. The teams will meet on Sept. 25, 2021, and Sept. 13, 2025. Both games will be played at Beaver Stadium in State College, Pa.

"We are excited about the opportunity to get Penn State on the schedule. Playing two games in one of the best atmospheres in college football will be a great experience for our team," said Ferrante. "I think the Nova Nation will be excited to make the trip to Happy Valley. This game makes a lot sense for us on a number of levels."

The Wildcats and Nittany Lions have met eight previous times on the gridiron with the last match-up coming with a 20-14 Villanova victory in 1951. Penn State currently leads the series by a 3-4-1 count

Villanova has played five other games against teams that are currently in the Big 10 since restoring football at the FCS level in 1985. In addition to playing Rutgers in 1996, 2000, 2002 and 2005, the Wildcats played at Maryland in 2007.
