RICHMOND, VA. -- Villanova University senior quarterback
Zach Bednarczyk (Wallington, N.J.) has been named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week. Bednarczyk earns the honor after leading the Wildcats to a 19-17 victory over the Temple Owls.
In the win, Bednarczyk completed 29-of-40 for 254 yards to go with three touchdowns and one interception. His third touchdown pass came on a 4
th and 9 play with 7:17 to play in the game when he hit
Jarrett McClenton on the game-winning 30-yard strike. Bednarczyk was 5-of-7 for 71 yards on the drive.
Bednarczyk is back under center for the Wildcats after missing the final six games of the 2017 season due to injury. Prior to the injury, Bednarczyk was 85-of-121 (70.2%) for 1,068 yards to go with six touchdowns and no interceptions. For his career, he is 414-of-668 (61.9%) for 4,876 yards with 38 touchdowns and 18 interceptions to go with 267 carries for 1,138 yards and nine scores.
Bednarczyk currently ranks eighth all-time on Villanova's all-time passing yards list
and is sixth in total offense with 6,017 yards.
Villanova returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 8, with a non conference road game at Lehigh. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.
