VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova women's volleyball team fell to the High Point Panthers 3-0 in their second game at the Villanova Classic.
Head coach Josh Steinbach on the match, "High Point played a really good match. They are a talented team. We will regroup and get ready for Temple."
Freshman outside hitter Clare Delaplane led the Wildcats with eight kills.
The Panthers led 10-6 in the opening set. Villanova would cut the lead to one at 16-15 and then 20-19. The Wildcats could not catch up to the Panthers and lost the first set 25-22.
In the second set, Villanova led 10-8 after a kill by freshman right side hitter Sanaä Barnes. With the match tied at 10, the Panthers went on a 10-2 run to make the score 20-12. High Point would hold their lead and win the second set 25-16.
Villanova was down 8-4 to start the third set but the Wildcats then went on a 9-1 run to lead 13-9. The Panthers would counter with a run of their own to tie the match at 14. High Point then took the lead and continued to lead the rest of the way to win the set 25-19.
