Wildcats to Play Last Non Conference Game at Penn Wednesday Night

Villanova will travel into the city of Philadelphia on Wednesday, Jan. 16, to take on the Penn Quakers. The Wildcats enter play with a 10-6 overall record and a 3-0 Big Five mark, while Penn is 9-2 overall and 2-0 in City Series play. Tip-off at The Palestra is set for 7 p.m.
 
The Wildcats enter play at Penn on Wednesday night with an all-time Big Five record of 118-39 (.751). The 118 wins are the most victories by any Big Five women's program. Saint Joseph's is second with 110 Big Five wins. Villanova is 27-5 in its last 32 Philadelphia Big Five games.
 
With a victory over Penn, the Wildcats will capture the Big 5 title outright. Under the guidance of head coach Harry Perretta, Villanova has won 15 Big Five titles, including nine with a perfect record and the outright championship. If the Wildcats lose to the Quakers, Villanova can still a claim a share of the Big Five title if Temple defeats Penn on Jan. 23.
 
Over the years, Villanova has had a great deal of success against the Penn Quakers. Entering play on Wednesday night, Villanova leads the all-time series by a count of 42-3. The Wildcats have won 14 of the last 15 meetings over the Quakers. Penn's one win in the stretch came last year when the Quakers won at Villanova by a score of 79-77.
 
Wednesday's game will be Villanova's final non conference game of the season. Following the match-up with the Quakers, the Wildcats will play 12 straight Big East games to finish the regular season. Villanova is currently 8-2 in non conference games this year.
 
Villanova is led in scoring by junior guard Kelly Jekot who is averaging 13.9 points per game, while junior forward Mary Gedaka ranks second in scoring at 13.1 points per game. Gedaka is also the team's top rebounder at 7.5 per game.
