RICHMOND, VA. – Villanova University junior linebacker
Forrest Rhyne (Waynesboro, Pa.) has been named the CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Rhyne earns the award for his play in Saturday's 35-28 win at William & Mary.
In the victory, Rhyne tallied a career-high 15 tackles to go with 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 quarterback sacks and a forced fumble. The tackles for loss were for minus 24 yards, while the sacks were for a loss of 18 yards. The 15 tackles were the most by a Villanova player since 2017 and the second-most by a CAA player this season.
For the year, Rhyne has a team-high 49 tackles to go with a team-best seven tackle for loss and 3.5 sacks.
With the William & Mary win, the No. 5 ranked Wildcats improve to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in CAA play. Villanova returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 12, with a road game at No. 2 James Madison. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
