Villanova junior guard
Collin Gillespie (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) picked up a pair of honors on Monday, as he was chosen as the BIG EAST and Philadelphia Big Five Player of the Week.
Gillespie averaged 20.3 points and 7.3 assists while helping the Wildcats to the title game of the Myrtle Beach Classic. The junior guard saved his best game for final when he had 27 points and six assists in an 87-78 loss to No. 24 Baylor. He had 18 points and nine assists in an 83-76 win over Mississippi State in the semifinal round. Gillespie was named to the All-Tournament Team.  Â

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Romeo Weems, DePaul, F, Fr. – Weems takes Freshman of the Week honors for the second straight week after posting his first collegiate double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds in a 72-67 win at Boston College. The 6-7 freshman, who also had three steals, is averaging 10.5 points and 6.2 rebounds for the season.   Â
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Kamar Baldwin, Butler, G, Sr.
Had 17 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a 68-50 victory against Morehead State.Â
Marcus Zegarowski, Creighton, G, So.
Averaged 18.5 points and 4.5 assists in a 2-0 week. Shot 53.8 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range.  Â
Charlie Moore, DePaul, G, Jr. Â
In a 72-67 win at Boston College, posted 24 points, eight assists and four rebounds. Made two 3-pointers in the final 1:30 to help seal the victory.          Â
Omer Yurtseven, Georgetown, C, Jr.
Averaged 15.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week that included a win over No. 22 Texas (82-66) and a loss to No. 1 Duke (81-73). Had 21 points against Duke.            Â
Paul Scruggs, Xavier, G, Jr.
Made the All-Tournament Team at the Charleston Classic after averaging 18.7 points and 4.0 rebounds and helping Xavier to the title game. Had a game-high 24 points in the final against Florida, a 70-65 defeat.  Â
The Big Five Honor Roll also included:
• Ryan Betley, Penn (Sr., G) – Betley scored 22 points to lead Penn to a road win at Providence on Saturday, 81-75. He also matched a season high with eight rebounds and added two assists and two steals. Earlier in the week, Betley scored 11 points and snared six boards in Penn's loss at Lafayette.
• Ryan Daly, Saint Joseph's (R-Jr., G) – Daly averaged 21 points and nine rebounds per game over three games at the Charleston Classic this past week. He scored 25 points in back-to-back games and posted two double doubles on the week.
• Josh Pierre-Louis, Temple (Fr., G) – Pierre-Louis led Temple in scoring with season highs in points and steals off the bench in a 70-61 road win at USC. He tallied 15 points in 17 minutes and added three assists and three steals to help the Owls to a 4-0 start on the season.
