Swim and Dive to Close out Fall Season at La Salle on Tuesday

VILLANOVA, Pa. - After just a few days off, Villanova's swim and dive team is ready to get back to competing. After traveling to West Virginia for the WVU Mountaineer Invitational, the Wildcats will stay local for their next meet, a clash at La Salle at 2:00 p.m. on Nov. 26.

For the men, the season has gotten off to a slow start. The Wildcats are 0-2 on the year after dropping meets to Georgetown and Penn, but are looking to end the fall season on a high note.

The Explorers have not fared much better, starting the season with a 1-3 overall record. While they did best Villanova a year ago, La Salle looks vulnerable as they are only 1-2 at home this season.

Many individuals are performing well for Villanova this year. Kevin Geist, Stephen Krecsmar, Michael Perra, Andrew Kelley and Justin Cucchi have all taken first at dual meets this season, with Krecsmar, Perra and Cucchi taking the top spot in multiple events. The men's team has taken first at a dual meet 10 times this season, but has scored in a total of 64 events.

Most recently, the men's team placed fifth at the WVU Mountaineer Invitational with 661 points.

The women's team has been on a tear, recently placing third at the Mountaineer Invitational and sitting at 2-0 on the season. They will take on a 2-2 La Salle team that is 2-1 at home.

The Wildcats have had 24 first-place finishes this year. Kelly Montesi has the most individual wins this year, touching first six times. Milly Routledge is not far behind, registering four top finishes. Nicole Welch, Rayann Jaryszak, Kaitlin Gravell, Montesi and Routledge have all taken first in dual meets multiple times this season. Overall the Wildcats have scored in 77 events.
