NEW YORK, N.Y. - Villanova's swim and dive team took to West Virginia last weekend to compete in the first ever Mountaineer Invitational and came away with spectacular results. Kelly Montesi earned Female Athlete of the Week.
Montesi led the Villanova women at the WVU Mountaineer Invite with two individual event wins and two additional top-three finishes. The sophomore recorded an individual victory in the 400 IM with a time of 4:15.27, a BIG EAST best time of the 2019-20 season. Montesi also set a conference best time in the 200 back to win the event with a time of 1:57.04. Montesi's second place finish in the 200 IM marked a BIG EAST best mark with a time of 2:01.94. The Greenwich, Conn. native, was the first leg of the victorious 400 medley relay and the 800 free relay.
Villanova swim and dive closes out the fall portion of its schedule with a Nov. 26 meet at La Salle at 1:30 p.m.
