Villanova, Pa. – Villanova golf has announced the addition of three golfers to the program. One transfer will join the team next semester and two signees will represent the incoming class of 2024.
Max Siegfried will join the team as a transfer from the University of Virginia. Peter Weaver and Jonathan Elkins will join the team in the fall.
Siegfried is a local product, hailing from Villanova, Pa. Siegfried is returning home after two years at UVA.
Siegfried won the Golf Association of Philadelphia's Christman's Cup in 2015 and 2017 and was the Golf Association of Philadelphia's Player of the Year in 2015. He was an All-Delco selection during his senior year at Haverford School. Siegfried posted two top-ten finishes on the 2015 AJGA circuit, including one runner-up finish.
Siegfried played in one event at UVA, the Clemson Invitational, where he shot a 6-over 222 for a 53
rd place finish in the 54-hole tournament in April 2019.
He is following a similar path as his brother Cory, who played at UVA from 2008-12 before playing the 2012-13 season at Villanova as a graduate student.
Weaver, from St. Louis, Mo., was named an all-state golfer in Missouri in 2017 and 2018, and made first-team All-Metro St. Louis in 2018 while playing for the Saint Louis Priory School. Weaver was then named the Metro Conference Player of the Year in 2019. Weaver was a two-sport athlete, having played both golf and basketball.
Weaver is the son of Earle and Rebecca, and has three siblings, Sarah, Thomas and Joseph. His father played lacrosse at Cornell for four years and his brother, Thomas, played golf for four years at Rhodes College. Weaver chose Villanova for, "the highly recognized engineering program and incredible sports tradition."
Elkins, a Deerfield, Mass. native, played golf at the Taft School. Elkins has three top-five finishes in his high school career and four top-10 finishes. He was the runner up at the Founder's League Championship during his junior year. On the amateur circuit, Elkins qualified for the Junior PGA Championship in 2017 and 2019. He has three AJGA Top-10 finishes, and twice finished in the top-five in the Connecticut Section Junior PGA Championship in 2017 and 2019. Elkins was the winner of the US Challenge Computer Merchant Cup in 2019.
Elkins was a multi-sport athlete at the Taft School, having also received varsity letters in wrestling and cross country.
Elkins is the son of Steve and Kathy and has one sibling, Jackson. His father played collegiate golf at Hamilton College, and his brother runs cross country and track at Bates College.
