VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova forward Saddiq Bey (Largo, Md./Sidwell Friends School) was tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday by the conference office in New York City.

Bey - who has started 19 of Villanova's 26 games in 2018-19 - scored 11 points to go with five rebounds in Sunday's 71-65 loss to St. John's at New York's Madison Square Garden. That came on the heels of his adding six points and six caroms to help VU pull away from Providence 85-67 in the final six minutes of a clash at Finneran Pavilion last week.

This is Bey's first BIG EAST Freshman of the Week nod. He was on the BIG EAST Honor Roll last week.

On the season Bey averages 8,2 points and 5.1 rebounds per outing.

Also on Monday, Villanova dropped from No. 13 to No. 17 in this week's Associated Press poll while it slipped three places to No. 16 in this edition of the USA Today Coaches poll.
