VILLANOVA, Pa.—Graduating offensive lineman
Ethan Greenidge (T, 6-4, 335) has earned an invitation to the NFL Combine, as the official list of participants was announced on Thursday afternoon. Greenidge was a four-year starter for Villanova and wrapped up his collegiate career as a two-time selection to the CAA Football All-Conference Team. He was regarded as one of the top linemen in the FCS throughout his career and was chosen to participate in the East-West Shrine Game last month.
The annual NFL Scouting Combine provides a stage for top NFL prospects to be evaluated by all 32 teams as they are put through the paces in a variety of drills, evaluations and interviews with team personnel and the media. This year's Combine takes place at Lucas Oil Stadium from February 26-March 4, with the workout for offensive linemen set to take place on Friday, March 1.
Greenidge was a mainstay at left tackle for his entire Villanova career, starting all 43 games that he played in a streak which included every game of the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He was a first team STATS FCS Preseason All-American prior to his senior campaign in 2018, and earned both preseason and postseason CAA Football accolades. Greenidge was the leader of a Wildcats offensive line which had a strong season on the field.
Villanova ranked third in the CAA with 221 first downs in 2018, and the offensive line helped the Wildcdats finish the year with averages of 25.0 points per game and 369.5 yards of total offense per contest. The team surpassed 400 yards of offense six times in 11 games, including each of the first four contests of the season. That stretch culminated with Villanova tallying 609 yards in a win over Bucknell, with the offense producing over 300 yards both on the ground and through the air. Greenidge was also part of a line that did not allow a sack over the final two games of the year.
Following the season, Greenidge was invited to participate in the 95
th annual East-West Shrine Game held at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. Greenidge appeared in the game as a reserve offensive lineman for the East squad.
More than 300 of the top NFL prospects in the country were announced as invitees to the Combine, which is considered to be the most important week of draft season. Top executives, coaching staffs, player personnel departments and medical personnel from all 32 NFL teams will be on hand to evaluate the nation's best college football players who are eligible for the upcoming NFL Draft. The intense, four-day job interview is a vital step in players' achieving their dreams of playing professional football.
Villanova had four former players on NFL rosters during the 2018 season, including
Tanoh Kpassagnon (Kansas City Chiefs),
Austin Calitro (Seattle Seahawks),
Ben Ijalana (New York Jets) and
Brad Seaton (Cleveland Browns, practice squad).
