Erie, Pa. – With three games on the day, Villanova was able to come away with a clean sweep and win all three games.
McKendree
After dropping a one goal game against McKendree earlier in the season, Villanova was able to get some redemption and win a one goal game this time with a score of 16-15.
Kaysie Stuba netted five goals along the way for the Wildcats, while
Camille Oswald and
Kate Murray scored three,
Charlotte Curran scored two, and
Maria Breen,
Kate Stenmoen, and
Amanda Rice all added in a goal of their own.
After the third, Villanova was trailing 11-10 and outscored McKendree 6-4 in the fourth for the win.
Stuba scored three of her five goals in the fourth which helped lift the Wildcats to the win. Stenmoen's lone goal of the game was a clutch one and put Villanova up 15-14 before Oswald added some insurance to make it 16-14. McKendree's late rally wasn't enough as Villanova would win the first game of the day.
Penn State Behrend
The Wildcats would win the game 22-6, and controlled the game from beginning to end. They jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and would not look back. After three they led 21-4 and would cruise through the fourth quarter.
Villanova would have 11 different goal scorers. Stenmoen would leave the team with five, followed by
Paris Huffman with four,
Shannon Paparella,
Kate Murray,
Ailish Skinner, and
Isabel Herbst with two. Curran,
Caitlin O'Leary, Stuba, Oswald, and Rice all chipped in with a goal of their own.
Gannon
Just like the first game against McKendree, Villanova was able to pull out a close win.
Gannon jumped out to a 4-2 lead after one, but the Wildcats would outscore Gannon in the last three quarters.
Stenmoen and Murray led the team with three goals each. Murray also finished with four assists and seven points total.
Stuba and Curran both finished with two goals and Breen added in one as well. Murray's late goal with 5:33 left and Stenmoen's goal with 1:54 left would put the Wildcats up by two. Gannon would strike with 1:21 left on a power play goal but it would not be enough.
Tomorrow the Wildcats will face off against Mercyhurst at 10:00 AM. This will be the last non-conference game of the 2019 season for Villanova.
