Wildcats Faced Phillies Prospects in Exhibition Game

Trip concludes with two games against Central Michigan

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Villanova baseball team took on the Philadelphia Phillies Prospects in an exhibition game at Spectrum Field. It was perfect weather and all-around exciting day of baseball for the Wildcats.

When the Wildcats arrived at the field, the Philadelphia Phillies were taking batting practice in preparation for their game later tonight against the Atlanta Braves. The players were able to witness Rhys Hoskins and Andrew McCutchen launch balls over the left field wall. Larry Bowa and Charlie Manuel were also in attendance.

But the person everyone was asking and pointing out. Bryce Harper. The Phillies newest acquisition. Everyone in the dugout was asking which one he was on the field.

For the game 20 different Wildcats saw action during the exhibition. Villanova used six different pitchers while the Phillies used nine. The Wildcats pitching staff combined struck out five different Phillies.

The Wildcats have two games remaining on their Spring Break Trip before returning to campus. Their final two games will be played against Central Michigan. With first pitch on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.
