Philadelphia, Pa. – Villanova women's lacrosse heads to Drexel University for another Saturday competition close to home. The Wildcats and Dragons will face off on Mar. 9 at Vidas Field starting at 1 p.m. In the pair's all-time series matchups, Drexel holds a 13-8 overall record over Villanova. Coming off a 17-5 win over the Holy Cross Crusaders on Wednesday, the Wildcats look to continue chipping away at the Dragons all-time lead.
Villanova
The Wildcats have been led throughout the season by
Katie Comerford,
Ashley Lynch and
Devin Hassinger. Comerford leads the team with a team high both in points and assists with 17 and 11, she has also scored six goals. Lynch in second on the team both in points and assists, she has 15 points on nine assists and six goals. Hassinger holds the top spot on the team in goals and draw controls. In six games, she has scored 12 goals and has tallied 38 draw controls. Against Holy Cross Hassinger moved up the ranks for the third time this season in all-time career draw controls. She now has a total of 143 after passing Jackie Froccaro who now sits in third with 138.
Offensively,
Liz Trojan,
Brittany Bruno,
Maggie Jennings and
Grainger Rosati have also contributed a good portion of the team's 65 goals this season. Rosati is also second on the team in draw controls with 20.
On the back end,
Maggie O'Neill and
Sydney Frank and
Julia Arrix have each been key features for the Wildcats. Frank leads the team in caused turnovers (10) and is tied on the team with Jennings in ground balls (11). O'Neill and Arrix have a combined total of 16 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers.
Alexa Moro continues to prove how strong she is in the net game-by-game. Throughout the six contests she has recorded 62 saves on 162 shots faced and currently has an overall save percentage of .500. In three of her games she has reached double figures in saves.
Drexel
The Drexel Dragons are currently 2-3 on the season after grabbing wins over Iona and Rutgers and being defeated by Johns Hopkins, No. 20 Georgetown and Penn.
Colleen Grady and Lucy Schneidereith are the primary contributors to the Dragons 53 goal total, though nine others have added eight or less goals as well. Grady has scored 10 goals and leads the team with eight assists for her team high 18 points. Schneidereith sits at first on the team with 11 goals and 11 ground balls and has dished out two assists to compile her 13 points. Following behind the offensive pair is Courtney Dietzel who has scored eight goals and Karson Harris who has tallied seven assists and has earned a team high 20 draw controls.
Sophomore goalkeeper, Zoe Bennett has seen the most time in the net for Drexel this season. Bennett has started in all five contests and has recorded 52 saves on 149 shots faced for an overall save percentage of .481. The Dragons have also seen time from senior keeper Sigourney Heerink.
Last Game
The two opponents last met in the Villanova Stadium during the 2018 season where Villanova came up with a 20-12 home victory over the visitor.

Jillian Swikart led all 'Cats with four goals each and
Ashley Lynch tallied a team high four assists.
On Drexel's offensive end, Harris and Schneidereith led the team in goals. Harris netted in four while Schneidereith found the back of the net three times. Grady recorded a team high seven points on the day with her two goals and five assists.
Villanova dominated well into many of the team statistics on the afternoon. The Wildcats led 43-22 in shots, 31-19 in shots on goal, 13-6 in ground balls and 22-12 in draw controls.
Kim McDonough (9) and
Devin Hassinger (7) contributed to a majority of the team's 22 draw controls.
Drexel did, however, record four more saves and earned two more free-position shots than Villanova. Bennett recorded all 11 saves for the Dragons and
Khaia Baranowski (4) and
Julia Michaels (6) shared the saves and time in the net for the 'Cats.
Looking Forward
The women will return home again and prepare to host two games in the Villanova Stadium the following week. The Wildcats will host the ARMY Cadets on Tuesday, Mar. 12 at 3 p.m. and welcome the Richmond Spiders Saturday, Mar. 16 at 1 p.m.
