Wildcats Fall to Central Michigan in Game One 9-1

McNary led the Wildcats with two hits

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Villanova baseball team fell to the Central Michigan Chippewas 9-1 in the first of two games this weekend. Leading the Wildcats was Dylan McNary who had two hits and drove in the only run for VU. Game two against Central Michigan is on Sunday March 10th with first pitch at 10:00 a.m.

Gordon Graceffo got the start for the Wildcats. He pitched three and two thirds innings, allowing two hits and three runs while striking out two batters.

The Chippewas got on the board in the bottom of the second. Sullivan was hit by a pitch and then two batters later he advanced after a wild pitch. Rollin would single to right field to give CMU the 1-0 lead.

Villanova tied it back up in the top of the third. Heilenbach got on base after being hit by a pitch and later advanced to second on a passed ball. McNary then drove him in with a RBI single down the left field line.

Central Michigan would retake the lead in the bottom of the third. With runners on the corners with two outs, Lockwood-Pow singled to left field to give the Chippewas a 2-1 lead.

CMU would build on their lead by scoring runs in the next three innings. After six innings, Central Michigan was winning 7-1. The Chippewas would get two more runs in the bottom of the eighth after a two-run double to left center field to make it 9-1.

Tomorrow's game against Central Michigan will conclude the Florida Spring Break trip for Villanova. The Wildcats will return to campus and have their home opener on Tuesday March 12th against Navy at 3:30 p.m.
