Philadelphia, Pa. – After two games on the day, the Wildcats fell to La Salle 15-13 in OT, and beat VMI 12-7.
La Salle
The Wildcats took on the Explorers this morning for the second time of the season, and fell in a heart breaker.
La Salle jumped out to a 10-5 lead, before Villanova started cutting into it.
Kaysie Stuba and
Kate Murray cut the lead to 10-8, before the Explorers would make it 11-8. Stuba would then score two more and
Maria Breen would then score to tie the game.
Charlotte Curran added a goal to take the lead, but the Explorers would tie the game back up shortly after.
The Explorers would score the first three goals of overtime to give themselves a comfortable lead.
Amanda Rice scored late, but it was not enough as the Cats fell.
VMI
Stuba led the way for Villanova against VMI with seven goals and two assists, in a spectacular performance.
Stuba, Murray, and
Isabel Herbst would all score in the first quarter to put the Wildcats up 4-0. They would then take a 6-3 lead into halftime.
Villanova would not look back as they would take the game 12-7. While Stuba finished with nine points,
Malia Gacutan finished with five, Murray finished with two, Curran finished with two, and Breen and Herbst both finished with one.
Rachel Jennings picked up the win making 12 saves with seven goals allowed and also added in a steal while finishing with a .632 save percetange.
The Wildcats will be back in action tomorrow at home against Wagner at 9:00 AM and Marist at 4:30 PM.
