Three Villanova Wildcats signed NFL free agent contracts this afternoon. Offensive tackle
Ethan Greenidge (6-5, 335 lbs./ Flanders, N.Y.) signed with the New Orleans Saints, safety
Rob Rolle (6-0, 195 lbs./Newfield, N.J.) signed with the Miami Dolphins and offensive tackle
Brandon Hitner (6-6, 310 lbs./ Gulph Mills, Pa. ) signed with the Los Angeles Rams.
Hitner was a two-year starter and a three-year letterwinner for the Wildcats, starting 18 of the 28 games he played in. A three-time member of the CAA All-Academic Team, he was also named to the 2019 NFF Hampshire Honor Society which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career.
Greenidge was a mainstay at left tackle for his entire Villanova career, starting all 43 games that he played in a streak which included every game of the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He was a first team STATS FCS Preseason All-American prior to his senior campaign in 2018, and earned both preseason and postseason CAA Football accolades. For his efforts in 2018, Greenidge was named to the CAA All-Conference second team. Following the 2018 campaign, Greenidge was invited to participate in the 95
th annual East-West Shrine Game held at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. Greenidge appeared in the game as a reserve offensive lineman for the East squad.
Hitner and Greenidge both helped the Villanova offense rank third in the CAA with 221 first downs in 2018, and the offensive line was instrumental in the Wildcats finishing the year with averages of 25.0 points per game and 369.5 yards of total offense per contest. The team surpassed 400 yards of offense six times in 11 games.
Rolle played in 50 career games (39 starts) for the Wildcats where he tallied 160 total tackles (104 solo), 17 pass break-ups, three fumble recoveries and seven interceptions, including two that were returned for touchdowns. A two-time captain, Rolle's best season came in 2016 when he earned first team All-CAA accolades. Rolle was a three-time member of the CAA All-Academic Team and just this past spring he garnered a spot on the NFF Hampshire Honor Society.
The trio helped lead Villanova to a 25-21 career record and an appearance in the 2016 FCS playoffs.
With the addition of these three signings, Villanova now has seven players currently on NFL rosters. The other four include defensive end
Tanoh Kpassagnon (Kansas City Chiefs), linebacker
Austin Calitro (Seattle Seahawks), offensive tackle Ben Ijalana (New York Jets) and offensive tackle
