Late Rally Comes Up Short as Water Polo Falls to Siena

Brooklyn, N.Y. – The Wildcats late rally came up just short as they fell to Siena 12-10.

The Saints jumped out to a 6-3 lead after the first quarter and a 9-4 lead at halftime. Heading into the fourth it was 11-6, and then Villanova really turned it on.

Villanova would score four of the five goals in the fourth and trailed by just one with 3:39 left. However, Siena went up two with 3:10 left and there would be no further goals.

Reigning MAAC Offensive Player of the Week Kate Murray led Villanova with four goals and an assist. Malia Gacutan added in two goals for the Wildcats while Maria Breen, Charlotte Curran, Kate Stenmoen, and Kaysie Stuba would all get one in the back of the net.

The Wildcats will wrap up the regular season next weekend with two games on Saturday, and two games on Sunday.
