Box Score Denver, Colo.- The Villanova Wildcats fell to the Denver Pioneer's in the BIG EAST semifinals on Thursday night by a final of 17-11. Villanova closes out the season with an 8-7 overall mark and 3-2 in BIG EAST play.

Villanova got on the board with a goal by BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year Connor Kirst at the 12:03 mark in the opening quarter.  The Pioneers would score the final five goals of the quarters to push themselves up 5-1 after the first 15 minutes.

Denver continued the scoring run into the start of the second quarter netting the first goal but Patrick Daly would put an end to it scoring an unassisted goal at the 11:07 mark.  The Wildcats scored their third goal when Keegan Khan dished a pass from behind the cage to Kirst at the top of the arch.  Kirst ripped the shot at the 9:50 mark for his 100th career point; Villanova trailed 7-3.  The Pioneer's had five more goals before halftime to be up 12-3 heading into the locker room.

Villanova used halftime to regroup and reset their defense and limited the Pioneers to only five goals in the second half.  The Wildcat offense locked in as well scoring back-to-back goals to get things started.  Eric Overbay netted an unassisted goal first and Kirst set up Matt Campbell for the second goal.  Denver scored two quick goals but Chris Donovan had his second goal at Villanova with just seconds remaining before the end of the third to make the Denver lead 15-6.

The Wildcats fought back in the final quarter netting five goals to close the game.  TJ Comzio set up Khan for the first and then Khan set up Timmy Hardy for the second goal pushing the Wildcats within seven.  DU would net two more and the Wildcats three to close out the game.  Khan continued to have a hand in the scoring action, assisting a Corey McManus goal at the 10:27 mark and then diving from behind the cage for one of his own a minute later.  McManus would score the final goal of the game on a pass from Kirst to make the final 17-11.
