RICHMOND, VA. – Junior quarterback
Daniel Smith (Leesburg, Va.) has been named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week. Smith earns the award for his play in Saturday's 52-45 overtime win at No. 5 Towson.
In the victory, Smith registered 349 yards of total offense and completed 25-of-42 for 279 yards and four touchdowns to go with seven carries for 70 yards and two scores. Smith engineered a 65-yard drive in the final 1:38 to set up a game-tying field goal and then scored the game-winning touchdown on a two-yard run in overtime.
After four games, Smith has completed 65-of-118 for 765 yards to go with 13 touchdowns and just three interceptions. He also has 21 carries for 142 yards (6.7 avg.) and four scores.
The 4-0 Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Sept. 28, with a home game versus Maine. Kickoff at Villanova Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m.
