NEW YORK - Junior Lexi DeNucci was named BIG EAST Player of the Week after the Wildcats (4-1, 1-0) went 2-0 on the road this weekend.
DeNucci went undefeated in singles in both of the Wildcat's victories. In Villanova's BIG EAST matchup with St. John's on Friday, DeNucci won in the No. 3 position in straight sets, defeating Red Storm senior Oceane Gabriel 7-5, 6-3, helping the team to a 4-3 win.
It was the first time since 2000 that Villanova has defeated St. John's.
In the Wildcat's 6-1 win over Towson on the road Sunday afternoon, DeNucci and her partner, senior Kaylan Rotman, won their No. 2 doubles set 6-4.
DeNucci also won her No. 3 singles match in straight sets, defeating Towson 6-3, 7-5.
This is the first conference award for Villanova this season.
