Women's Basketball Continues BIG EAST Play vs Marquette Friday Night

Villanova is set to host the Marquette Golden Eagles in a BIG EAST contest on Friday, Feb. 21. The Wildcats enter play with a 14-11 overall record and an 8-6 conference mark, while the Golden Eagles are 20-6 overall and 11-4 in league action. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., at the Finneran Pavilion.
 
Friday's game will be the second meeting of the season between the Wildcats and Golden Eagles. In a game played in Milwaukee on Jan. 20, Marquette tallied a 57-52 win. Villanova was led in the game by redshirt freshman forward Maddy Siegrist who had 25 points, including five three-point field goals and Mary Gedaka who tallied 16 points and seven assists. Marquette had three players in double figures led by Lauren Van Kleunen with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Isabelle Spingola also had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds and Altia Anderson added 10 points and nine rebounds.  
 
Wildcat senior forward Bridget Herlihy was named to this week's BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her play in Sunday's 48-40 win over Georgetown. In 39 minutes of action, she scored a game-high tying 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting to go with five rebounds, three blocks and one assists. Three of her six field goals were from three-point range.
 
Gedaka recorded her 10th straight double digit scoring game in last Sunday's win at Georgetown with a 15-point performance. This was her 23rd double digit scoring game of the year and the 76th of her career. Of the 76 double digit efforts, 21 have been of 20 points or more. She also has five double-doubles this season and 12 for her career.  
 
With nine more rebounds, Gedaka will move into the top 10 on Villanova's career rebounding chart. She currently has 664 career rebounds and Alex Louin (2014-18) is 10th with 672.
 
Villanova is led in scoring and rebounding by Siegrist who is averaging 19.8 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per contest. Gedaka is second on the team in scoring with a 17.3 points per contest average.
